Unclutter - mini update.

#1 pay off debt - still pondering - will do in Jan. Its scary for me. This is the case of the known is safer than the unknown. Doesn't make much sense but true. Although on the positive side of this there are no new charges to the credit card.

#2 loose weight - lost 1 pound this week, yeah me. One day I may actually post what I weigh but not today. Those little insecurities get to all of us and this is one of mine.

#3 home/life unclutter - sadly this has gone from being once a day to 2-3 times per week. I was speaking with my friend CB and she suggested that she only does this 2-3 times per week and you still have a neat home. I did sand off the bathroom ceiling and then swept up the yuckies from that. To get this ready to be painted.

So the big news for me is that the weight loss is beginning to be consistent since Nov and I have been working on it since Oct. Still uncluttering the home and no new credit card charges. I am paying cash for everything.

As part of the debt unclutter I thought I would do a Proverbs in a Year study as I don't believe I can do this all by myself. I think Proverbs is great for little reminders on how to live your life the right way. Stay tuned.

As a reminder, I never post on weekends or holidays. I believe those days to be sacred and you should all turn off the TV and electronics and get outside and be with family and friends. (or knit and spin--hee) Just my two-cents, for what its worth. See ya next year.

Happy New Year,
Good day.

UNCLUTTER my life...

Hello,
A few weeks back I was reading the "Be More With Less Blog," was recently seeing an interesting "someone," and read the bible in a year, to which inspired by all of this I decided I needed to "un-clutter" my life.

I usually don't make New Year's Resolutions as most times I am of the opinion that they don't work. For me this choice of becoming un-cluttered is in actuality a total "life change." As I wish to make being un-cluttered permanent in my life.

I made this decision to un-clutter during the middle of November 2011, and have been formulating a plan ever since.

I have 3 areas that I specifically wish to become un-cluttered:
1. pay off my debt in a year
2. lose weight in a year to an acceptable number and maintain that number
3. un-clutter my home/life.

all are constant and continuous life changes.

UNCLUTTER area #1: Pay off my debt: I was reading Be More With Less and she recommended a book to read, "The Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey. I got the book from the library and I must confess didn't really read it until the day it was supposed to go back to the library. My opinion of the book is that it has a lot of fluff-life stories, of which I personally didn't need but believe that most people do. I needed to get to the meat of the book and found it difficult to find at times due to all the life stories.

So I skimmed it (because it was supposed to be returned and I didn't want a fine and it wouldn't renew since someone else had a hold on it). Once I found the information that were the main points I found that it was very helpful and informative.

Dave's first recommendation is if you have debt and savings, take all your savings and pay off the debt. VERY SCARY. At least for me. My savings is my safety net, just in case something happens. Dave recommends this because you will actually save money in the long run, he provides examples for his argument and I believe he is correct. He also states do NOT consolidate your debt. Take your smallest debt and pay it off. Have little successes to encourage you to have bigger successes. We as human beings need this to keep positive and continue with our goal.

Dave's second recommendation is to build a savings of approximately $1000. This is for the little emergencies that happen. His argument here is that most emergencies in life are under this amount and he provides examples for this too.

Another of Dave's recommendation is to write down every time you spend money. In fact you have to write it down within 10 minutes of spending or else you will lose your focus on your goal, which is to pay off your debt. I have been doing this since June and it has helped me save money.

And one last important point that I obtained is Dave recommends that you do NOT use a credit card. Pay cash for everything. He also recommends writing down your goal and putting it where you will see it every day as a reminder.

The book is a good read and very informative. If you need to pay off debt in your life I recommend that you read Dave Ramsey's book. Obtain it from your local library.

Conclusion for #1: is to pay off my debt in one year. I have formulated a plan with the help of Be More With Less and Dave Ramsey's suggestions and I will put this into action beginning January 1st by using my savings to pay off half of my debt and then paying the rest off within the next year. Part of my plan is to not use my credit card for one year. Once done the only time I will ever use the card again is if I can pay it off each month. To begin with I have cancelled all automatic charges that I have on the card.

Wish me luck and I will be posting my progress in the future.

UNCLUTTER #2-lose weight: I am not obese, I am over-weight. Since making this decision in November, I have lost 5 pounds. I watch what I eat. I have increased my exercise to going to the health center on my breaks every day and for a least 15 minutes ride the stationary bike at an R6 for 2 miles. I have reduced my wine/alcohol intake and I need to reduce eating cheese and no potato chips. This has also helped with skiing.

Conclusion for #2: I have increased my exercise to a daily activity and try to weed out the heavy fat foods.

I will continue to post my progress.

UNCLUTTER #3-unclutter my home/life: I have areas in my home that are cluttered and I don't like it. I have high regard for others and seeing their homes and everything has a place and its nice and neat. I want that. I noticed that the way these person's have a neat home is that they tackle a small area each day. They tackle an area that takes about 15-20 minutes out of their lives. This is very doable.

It makes that area clean and neat and not overwhelming because you are only tackling one small area not the whole place. My plan that I implemented during December is each day I take one area in my home and un-clutter it. I have un-cluttered 10 small areas so far. Its very gratifying.

Interestingly enough, DD has noticed the uncluttering, which has created an interest for her. She also has begun to tackle tiny areas and has begun un-cluttering her life too. I love having a positive effect in her life and am fascinated by the unexpected chain reaction my uncluttering has had.

My mom has become interested and asks me when she speaks to me, what did you un-clutter today? I like this as it keeps me honest with myself and motivated. She has become my accountability mentor.

Conclusion #3: I take 15-20 minutes each day to unclutter an area of my home.

And there you have it, my decision for a life change to unclutter my life and keep it up for the rest of my life. I believe its a positive decision and am pleased with it. Wish me luck.

What will you decide to un-clutter today?? Take one small area and get it done. Come on it will only take about 15 minutes.

Good day.

Copper Mountain skiing...

Copper Mtn- Dec 26.2011
Copper Mtn-Blackjack ski lift-Dec 26.2011
Hello,
Did you all have a lovely holiday??? Mine was fine. I spent the day with mom and DD. They are such cool people to be with, its nice to be related to them.

The day after Christmas was spent skiing at the lovely Copper Mountain. I just love the place I live. I can get to this view in about 2 1/2 hours. Is it not one of the most beautiful places to live? If not, darned close. I love that country song that states that if God doesn't live here, He definitely spends a lot of time here.

The pictures were taken at the top of the Blackjack ski run, the Rendevous chair lift on Copper Mtn. It's breath-taking isn't?

Had a great day skiing. The lift lines were very manageable and not busy in the morning and not a long wait at all to get on the chair lifts even later in the day. It was a little blustery and the wind can sometimes make things miserable but for this day it wasn't so bad and I used my hand warmers, which helped a lot. My handmade wool socks keep my feet warm and toasty and I didn't need any feet warmers at all. Yeah, for hand-knits. I declare the muggles do not know what they are missing regarding hand-knit socks.

I like to ski straight through from 9 to about 1 or 2pm and then eat and leave. 4 - 5 hours of skiing and I am a happy camper. Plus I start to get tired and fall if I try to do more than this. I fell 3 times and the 3rd time was about 1pm. I started to get cranky and realized that I was tired and hungry, so it was time to stop.

All in all, a happy ski day for me.
Good day and happy snow sports to you.

Winter Solstice Concert...

Winter Solstice was here last night, Dec 21, and arrived with a foot of snow in most areas. I had the opportunity to go to a music concert. I know, I should have my head examined. The concert was performed by Wayne Hammerstadt and company. They performed Renaissance music along with 70s rock music. It was very coolio. Take a look at Wayne's web-site.

He is an excellent musician and I believe one of the best in this country and I am lucky enough to be able to hear him perform live and in-person. Yeah me.

Driving home last night was not pleasant and almost got stuck in the parking lot. Very slippery-o. Take care for those of you in the Winter Storms today.
Good day.

Car plate stolen...

Hello,
For those of you not in the know: back car plate stealing is very prevalent or in the alternative slicing off the back sticker is too. What do you do when this happens??:

1. you call the police and make a police report that your plate was stolen and obtain a case number.
2. you go to the DMV give them the police case number and they will provide new plates at a discounted rate.
3. pay the rate: usually about $8 to $10 dollars.
4. put your plate back on the car with different size hex nuts and use a medium blue bonding agent on the shaft of the screw so it is difficult to remove your plate.

Meanwhile, you are out time, money and someone else has your old plate. Its all very frustrating and I believe a continuation of the difficult times ahead for all, including the person who stole the plate in the first place.

Good day.

Beautiful Blue debut.

Hello,
BB and I had our guitar/singing debut. It was loads of fun. I am told it was very bad and very entertaining. It was so bad that the guy I was seeing broke up with me the next day! I guess it really was that bad. Too funny!!! (It's really no surprise and I'm not really crushed, shhh--it just stung a bit).

As for the song, its a Tom Petty, sorry Tom, I really did massacre it. And some explanation is due regarding the switch of words. The person this was written for had just recently gone to Cheyenne Frontier Days and hiked Machu Picchu, and loves skiing and snow biking and hiking and that's just for that year and her DH is Ken. She loves scuba diving too, but I left that out.

See for yourself: Lynne's Guitar-Singing Debut

Good day! and enjoy life!

Once Again...

Goodnight Gram does it again. See if your eyes are dry after reading this post.

I just love Goodnight Gram. She reminds me to be kind no matter the situation you may be in as you may not have all the information regarding the situation. Remember to ask your question the right way.

Good day.

Lovely...

Lake Dillon, Colorado-Dec 2011
Be More With Less-Notice the Lovely

I encourage you to read the above posting. It got me to thinking about the lovely in my life. I have a lot of lovely and am grateful for it.

The most lovely in my life:

1. DD & family

2. cleaning up - you'd have to know me to understand this, but my explanation is that I can fall up or down, and break what is not breakable, burn what shouldn't be burned and can do all of the above in a matter of minutes or over a long period of time. In fact, I can almost guarantee that every person that I know has a funny story to tell. Even people who have only known me for a matter of minutes. I call myself a "beautiful disaster" and do not mean this in a negative connotation at all. I know who I am and can appreciate it. I have and so do others, interesting memories concerning me and what I get to clean up after I have been in attendance. It makes me smile.

3. lovely friends
4. lovely trips
5. lovely happy dog & lovely grouchy cat
6. lovely attitude
7. lovely place to live

Enjoy life and thinking about the lovely in your life.
Good day.

Skiing...Keystone.

Keystone Dec 12-2011
Been away and this time it has been for snow sports, skiing to be specific. I truly like the pre-season skiing. For one, in my opinion, the ground is not so hard and if there has been lots of snow fall its better snow. This season snow fall has not been as good as last year. It was still fun and I had a lovely condo that was in walking distance to the ski lift. Yeah me. Spent from 9am until 2pm on the slopes. Truly fantastic time. Later a relaxing dip in the hot tub eased any sore musceles that I may have and enjoyed the rest of my day taking it easy at the condo.

I am very happy that I rode my bicycle to work for most of the summer as I truly believed it helped keep me from having sore muscels or injury.

I can really recommend visiting Keystone and the Key to the Rockies Condos (I have not been given anything for this endorsement). The condo was very clean and up to date regarding bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen. A great place to spend a day or two. Just take a look at the picture and you will understand why.

Good day. Picture copywrite by me.

Orange wine...

There's a new wine in town. Move over reds. Stand to the side whites. And I'm such a wine snob I won't even mention rosé (but I will agree with the writer of the article that they are becoming more trendy these days---at least for some people). Who needs trendy when what I desire is a good bottle of wine not "trendy."

Take a look at this article on orange wines. Although I will mention that I was under the impression that this process of leaving the grape skins on was how you obtain the rosé wines. Will have to look that up. So is orange another word for rosé? Will have to get a bottle and try it out.

I'm off to the white wine section to buy orange. Wish me luck.

Thank you yahoo.com for the link.
Good day.

Winter sports...Snowshoe class.

Winter is here!!! I love all the seasons and winter has its appeal for me too.

REI provides free classes to those interested in different types of outdoor activities. I attended a women's snowshoe class. It was really very informative and the speaker (a woman) did a great job speaking and presenting the different aspects of snowshoeing. She is an avid snowshoe-er. I learned a lot and I learned that I am not far off the mark regarding the things I already have packed in my backpack. Now I just need to get out and get going.

First we learned about the equipment:

There are 3 types of snowshoes:
1. Recreational - flat terrain, easy trails
2. Adventure - hills, a little more difficult trails
3. Backcountry - very difficult trails ---these are the shoes you want as they will do the other two types of trails too. They are good for anything.

The speaker then went over the snowshoes, poles and footwear. The frames and bindings on the snowshoe. Preferences for poles and the different types of footwear used. What's a snow basket??? Who knew? I always had them but had no clue that's what they were called. Just google it and you'll know too.

We then went over the clothing and dressing in layers. The difference between silk, wool and synthetics. The first layers and the types of breathable clothing you want to be wearing. The mid-layers and then the outer-layers. Hats, gloves and accessories were next and the preferences of each and if you want a heavy or lighter garment.

Snowshoe techniques were next and this included etiquette, uphill, downhill, and traversing. She talked about deep snow and the difficulties in getting up when you fall in deep snow.

Safety was next. The Ten Essentials Plus 4. The main thing here was to be aware, don't be stupid, tell people where you are going. It also included, be smart about your physical ability and what it is. Don't try something that is out of your ability. Be smart about your environment, know your equipment and watch for winter hazards. Stay found and stay warm. Stay hydrated, take extra food & water, and stay alive. Take additional classes regarding altimeters, GPS, topo maps and how to use a compass and be familiar with any equipment you take with you, ie, know how to use it before you go. And last but not least, what's the weather going to be like and be prepared. Don't dress too warm and don't dress too light.

All in all, very informative on the promotion of safe travel in backcountry or wherever a person chooses to snowshoe. I learned that I have adventure snowshoes. That what I carry in my backpack are the Ten Essentials plus 2, just need to add 2. A great class, a personable and knowledgeable speaker and lots of good overall information regarding the winter sport of snowshoeing.

I feel much better about this type of travel as safety is my main concern. Check out the classes in your area and become more informed and safe.

Thank you REI for the free very informative class and just for women too. I liked it.

Good day and be safe whichever winter sport you choose.

Preserved Lemons...

Preserved Lemons article and instructions on how to's. This is a good article and very informative. Or google preserved lemons, lemon preserves or pickled lemons and read for yourself.

I had my first taste ever this weekend at a Chocolate Festival and these were yummy. There was a Moroccan spices and preserved lemons booth. Very smart of them and they were selling things just as much if not more than the chocolate. The vendor graciously opened a jar of the lemons to sample. I had never heard of them previously. Guess what everyone is getting for Christmas this year from me? These things are way too easy (even for me) to make. Although, the vendor said her recipe contained cold distilled olive oil and vinegar. She stressed using cold-distilled vs. hot distilled. And also stated that once the recipe is started that all you have to do is keep adding lemons to the jar when you take some out and keep it refrigerated. She also stressed using sea-salt too and make certain the lemons are completely covered with whatever liquid you choose to use. She also sliced the lemons in to 1/4 to 1/8 inch think wedges all the way through. Most of the recipes online don't do this. They either leave them whole with cuts and squeeze out the juice, and one recipe even just uses only the rind. One of the many uses she mentioned was for lemon-chicken.

I just like making things that are easy to do.

The article uses additional lemon juice or vinegar. I can't wait to get this done. Should be fun. I already have my home-made orange and peach vinegars ready to go.

Thank you Hunter Angler for the link.

Good day and happy preserving.

Broadway came visiting... Young Frankenstein.

Went to this play last night and had a wonderful time. I laughed and laughed and laughed. There was such talent. Lots of great singing and dancing. Lots of double meanings and innuendo. I wasn't disappointed at all. My best friend went the night before and she wished that she had watched the movie before attending. Personally, I did not leave with that feeling. I want to watch the movie after seeing this show. I had a great time.

Catch this show or any other in your area and support your local arts. I really recommend going to the theater, it's worth it.

Health and Wellness...

Vitamin D

8 Herbs You should be eating

Hello,
Today I am interested in providing info on health and wellness: the first article is on vitamin D. Interestingly enough there has been a rise in rickett's in the USA, since we seem to like to stay indoors and watch TV or play video games. It's really not a surprise is it?? We should all be outside in the sun more shouldn't we? At least for a little bit. And another question? How healthy is sunscreen? Personally, I don't like to use over a 15 spf.

The second article is on herbs. I just love using fresh herbs. They are a little more difficult to find in the winter unless you grow them inside. Fresh herbs make everything taste so much better.

and how about Cooking in cast iron. I've been told that if you cook your eggs in a cast iron skillet in the morning you actually obtain your daily iron requirement for the day.

Thank you yahoo.com for the links.
Good day and good health to you.

Spinning...Cupcake Fibers.

I've been doing a little spinning lately since I don't seem to have energy for anything else. This fiber is from Cupcake Fibers and wonderfully and lovingly prepared. Each box is a special gift. I purchased this before I even had my wheel. I finally obtained the nerve to spin it and its been a great experience. I am glad that I practiced on other not-so-important roving before this.

I also finally named my wheel. It's funny how long it took. It's been 4 months so we are still in the "just getting to know each other" stage. I would think of a name and she would say to me, "well, it's ok, I'll spin by it, but not really my name." Kinda like a cat. You know, they have at least three: the one they are called, the one they come to, and their real one.

Her name came to me while spinning this yarn. Butterfly it is.

Good day. Happy spinning if you spin.

Movie quotes...Batman Begins.

"It's not who you are underneath, it's what you do that defines you." --Batman Begins (2005)

I just love the movies. Especially when you find a useful quote that makes you think or laugh or cry. I couldn't agree more with the above quote. In my opinion, what people do is much more important that what they say. Sometimes I miss that, and it's really to my own detriment and my own fault for missing this. I guess that's where truly observing people is the key element and not "wishing" or "hoping" for certain behaviors from others or myself.

The quote also reminds me to watch my own behavior as well and making certain that my own behavior is really the impression I want to impart to others. Remember you can only change yourself not others. I hope what you do is a positive influence to others.

Good day and enjoy doing what defines you. Let's hope it's a positive experience for all involved.

Food and GNO...

tomato basil
GNO-Blue Star
Hello,
Haven't been one much for posting lately. You'll have to put me on your GoogleReader to be notified of updates, if you so choose.

Here' is a lovely recommendation for food:

fresh basil
fresh mozzarella cheese
sliced tomatoes
balsamic vinaigrette

arrange mozzarella, tomato and basil one on top of the other, sprinkle the vinaigrette over the top and then eat. I love it when its this simple. I've been eating this for the past 3 days. yummy. and a glass of red wine. double yummy.

GNO- for girls night out we went to the Blue Star and had a meat and cheese plate and hummus. All were delish and the service was terrific. Of course, on a Tuesday night they were not busy. We complimented the meal with a lush, full-bodied, berry BenMarco Malbec wine from Argentina. mmmmmhmmm, good. I just love the presentation of food. So took some quick pics and encourage you to enjoy making your own.

Happy T day,
Good day.

Romantic at heart...

Personally, I am a romantic at heart, sssh don't tell. I absolutely love, love stories about true love, soul mates, kindred spirits. I believe its what we all search for and some are lucky enough to be smart enough to recognize it and "do the right things" and keep it. Others... well, others...oh, well never mind. I'll keep those many thoughts to myself for now.

Goodnightgram always has a lovely post when speaking of Officer Friendly (OF) and it always brings tears to my eyes. By the end of this post I was crying from the simple beauty of her writing.

I do so enjoy her love story and am honored that she shares it with us.
Good day and good weekend to you all.

In Search of...safe Herbal remedies...menopause.---Update

Peaceful Mtn-Hot Flash Rescue
Greetings and Salutations,

Remember my search for homeopathic remedies for menopause??? As some of you may or may not know I have seen two doctors who refuse to believe that someone as young as myself is going through menopause and refuse to help me. I also always mention my issues with any healthcare professional I may be around and they state the same thing too, I'm too young. My feeling: what do they know, everybody's different. Hence, my search.

This past week I became so desperate from no sleep and so many hot flashes that I thought I was going to spontaneously com-bust or fall over from being dizzy from the heat from the hot flashes that I finally bit the big one and found several remedies without giving myself a heart attack---at least so far anyway. There may be other health issues associated with each that I am unaware of at the moment that they cause. The cost was pricey $10 to $11 dollars for a 1-2oz bottle. I did say I was desperate.

The photo is of Peaceful Mountain Hot Flash Rescue and its a soothing mist for "in the moment" hot flashes. I've been using it for a few days now and it really does work. One mention, is it smells very peppery-ish, like pepper spray. Be careful if you use it. I have to hold my breath and spray lightly as its hard for me to breath a little right after I spray it. It seems similar to Icy-Hot, and by that I mean that if you fan yourself it gets hot where the spray is, which is totally counterproductive to what you desire, but if you leave it alone it feels like its cool where the spray is on your skin. Kind of like its freezing. Interesting, eh???

I have noticed that I've been sneezing more since using it. Maybe the so-called "pepper" in it??

The ingredients listed:

inactive ingredients: aloe vera concentrate, black cohosh root, chaste tree fruit, lavender buds, natural plant extract, phenoxyethanol & caprylyl glycol & sorbic acid, potassium sorbate, purified water, sage leaf, St. John's Wort aerial parts, vitamin C, Vitamin E (soy), and wild yarn root.

active ingredients: Capsicum Annuum 3x, Pulsatilla 3x, sanguinaria Canadnsis 3x

I really do like that the USA-FDA requires ingredients to be listed if over a certain percentage. Its great.

I also found some liquid Valerian Root and liquid Black Cohosh.
The valerian root is supposed to be helpful for sleeping and the black cohosh for menopause symptoms and also a sedative.

Here's an interesting link for the black cohosh. Turns out it can cause liver damage. Hence my opinion in my side note below.

and link for the Valerian root

For each I only use half the recommend drops 15 (30 drops recommended), which is the full eye dropper. I use half to 1/4 eye dropper. Remember my experiment with the herbs for thyroid? I almost caused myself a heart attack, since the herbal company used 20 times the recommended amount. ugh. I also put the liquids in cranberry juice instead of water as the liquids taste horrible but aren't so bad in juice.

The valerian root does seem to be helping with sleep issues and the black cohosh with hot flash issues. Yeah me. I am thrilled to be able to sleep again and not so intense hot flashes. Plus I've noticed my attention span is getting better, which is good since I am having problems with this too. Maybe because I have now gotten some sleep for a few days in a row instead of having one good night and several bad nights.

Looks like both should only be used short-term due to the health concerns.

I also make certain to drink lots of water to help with reducing hot flashes too. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Its always a good idea no mater what your health issues.

Side note: as I was in the herbal store there was a conversation going on ahead of me that it turns out the FDA is looking into regulating the herbal industry. The two speaking were against it. Personally, after my near heart attack experiment, I think its a good idea. The implementation of regulating is going to be where they get it right or wrong on whether or not it is helpful. But at least with regulation the claim a company makes must be correct, which means research, which means money.

Thank you to NCCAM for the links.
I have not been given any benefits from Peaceful Mountain company for my comments.

Good day and good luck if you have a similar search.

Fellow blog posts...inspiring.

I've been really bad about keeping up with fellow blog posts. I really enjoy them. I just have not been doing anything lately that I enjoy. No spinning, no knitting---gasp, something must truly be wrong if no knitting!!!

I guess you could say I took a break from life. Today I have been reading a couple favs: Adventures in Paradise

and the following:
Be More with Less--10 Things you should Quit today. I think what I like most about her post is this quote, "you have to let go,instead of try harder. All that pushing, reworking and forcing might set you back." ---I couldn't agree more with this statement.

I feel as though over the past year I have been pushing, reworking and forcing life and its really set me back. My own choices and thoroughly my own disappointment in myself regarding said choices. I suppose that's why I have needed a break from life and rejuvenate, for lack of a better word.

I also like her statement about "fixing" people or "fixing" other people's problems. We all know people like that don't we?? Those that live to do this. Those that feel good or needed or complete when they do this??? This issue has also indirectly affected me and has been something of a drain. I need to let it go and be happy that its finally gone from my life. Yeah, me.

What have I been doing??? I took the time to rediscover lost enjoyments. For example I went to an auction and had a great time people watching and finding and looking at old items. I forgot how much I used to enjoy going to auctions. It was nice to revisit this pastime.

Take time with life and click the link above and find out what you should quit. Enjoy.
Good day.

5 things you should NOT purchase...

5 things to stop buying is an interesting article with helpful hints. Read and start saving today.

Thank you yahoo for the link.

Good day.

I'm going to be published...

CPW
Duprex label
Who knew that a quick trip to check out a spinning wheel and take pictures of it would cause an uproar in the CPW spinning world. Turns out I found a label that no one had seen yet and created a mystery. I just love the spinning world. A great group.

Anyway, one person is putting together a booklet on the Canadian wheels and asked if they could use my photos, which I wholeheartedly endorsed. Very Coolio.

Now I can make the 15 minutes of fame claim and state that I've been published. I know, it is a stretch but I'm ok with that. :)

Will have to purchase a copy just so I can be able to prove the claim.

I am now hooked on finding spinning wheels and taking pictures of them. hmm, new hobby? new obsession? nah, just fun.

Weight loss...

link to 5 Bizarre weight loss tricks. Sounds like fun. Will have to try wearing blue more and smelling bananas and peppermint. Do you think this will work during grocery shopping??? ...scenario: pick up a banana and smell it through your shopping and you'll buy less??? 'cause you won't be hungry, yes??? LOL

thank you yahoo for the link.
good day

taxes...

Things just got a little tougher out there.

Please got to this link to see what Obama and his congress are doing for you. You will actually owe approximately $3500 more in taxes. Yes, more. As for the poor folks out there you'll owe more too and get even less. I guess you'll have to think about maybe working for a living now or panhandle more. Shoot, even those of us working may have to panhandle now. It'll be our second job.

You can thank Bush for the breaks you have and were given that are now going to be phased out.

So, under a Republican President you had less taxes and more credits and under a Democratic President you owe more and receive less credit.

What does this mean? It all = less $ for you.

Makes you think, eh??

Thank you Yahoo.com for the link.

I need to keep this in mind...

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act but a habit."

I need to keep the above quote in mind for my next relationship. What is he doing to me and what am I doing to him. very good to keep in mind.

Think about it.

PS-I copped the quote from the Hydle blog.

Happy Face...fun stuff.

Here's a link to something fun to do.

The first four words you see in the face describe you.

my first words that I saw: Happy, Impatient, Elegant, Outspoken.

FUN. Good day.

Warren Miller...like there's no tomorrow

Hello,
Went to the Warren Miller film..."like there's no tomorrow(2011)" on Saturday night, 11/5. It was a lovely evening spent with DD. I wish she was a little more talkative. Where did my friendly, talkative child go? I hope she comes back soon. It was still a nice evening together. We had dinner at the Saigon Cafe. Love that place and then went to the film. Sad, but the seats were mostly empty.

My review of the film is that it was not on par with what I have previously seen. It was slow moving and somebody thought it would be funny to take a lot of time up in the film to produce a Sasquatch story-line. In a word, DUMB. or please save sh-t like that for You-Tube. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do.

Hey, I came for the awesome skiing and snowboarding and the stories of those people not some B rate movie-line about a snow monster. I can go to the dollar movies for that, thanks very much. I paid very good money to see some actual snow-sports and cinematography of same. Can you say refund this year.

From my understanding Warren Miller is no longer active in the shooting and producing of the films. Its a shame, truly. Good for him to be retired, not so great for us to sit through a film that is now not as well done. I did like and do recommend "Children of Winter(2008)," which is much more on par with what to expect from the name. It keeps you riveted the whole time and isn't sidelined by a silly idea.

Now I know why the theater was practically empty. Save your money this year peeps!

Here's an explanation of the Warren Miller films.

Good day.

Tab Benoit...

Went to see Tab Benoit on my own last Friday night. What a wonderful concert. I even purchased a CD and was able to have him sign it. Who is Tab? He's a Cajun singer and guitar player from Louisiana. He was very funny telling stories of growing up and how he started playing music full time. Makes me laugh just thinking about it. He used to be an instructor pilot. You'll have to go to a concert and hear from him to see how he went from pilot to guitar player.

Love ya Tab!!

Menopause the Musical...Girls Night Out.

Last night was a blast. The BF(best friend) put together a Girls Night Out and a bunch of us girls got together and went to see Menopause the Musical that was showing in our town. It was hilarious. My stomach hurt from laughing so hard. Love, love, Loved it.

Thanks so much, K, for putting this together.

I recommend that you see this musical play if it comes to your area.
Excuse me while I have a hot flash...
Good day.

Bible in a Year...conclusion.

Greetings, I decided to go ahead and post my conclusion. I hope you get it and read your own bible in a year:

I finally finished my task/bargain/deal/goal I set for myself of reading the bible in a year. This post is my conclusion and I feel that I should start at the beginning so that you may understand how this task came about.

Approximately one year ago I made a bargain with Our Lord Your God. I won't go into exact details regarding the bargain. Suffice it to say that it was pretty specific and I was pretty miserable. Miserable enough to make a deal with Our Lord Your God.

So my bargain was that if He kept His side of the bargain within 3 days then I would keep mine, which was to read the bible in a year. Easy-peasy, right?

I had long been promising myself and Our Lord Your God to get this done. In fact there have been at least 3 instances before this of making a bargain with Our Lord Your God of promising to read the bible in a year if He would only follow through with His part of my bargain. As I recall, He has always previously followed through with my requests and I always poo-poohed it and gave up reading as I had previously come to the conclusion that His part was really way too easy and why should I follow through with my end of the bargain when the reading was so tedious and difficult and His part would have happened anyway. No biggy. right?

This time however, I felt was different. This time I felt that if I did not follow through with my side of the bargain that my life would be really difficult until I did follow through. I don't know why I got this feeling, I just did.

So this time, when I made the bargain with Our Lord Your God I felt the bargain made was to be much more difficult for Him to follow through. As stated before, All times previously were considered by me not so difficult for Him. So this time, I chose to put an exact time limit on my request and I thought the request was REALLY, REALLY difficult. Plus, the reading of the bible had to be easy this time and not so tedious as the previous times. Oh, how naive can you possibly get??, I ask myself. This Being, who moves mountains and holds back the waters of the sea. Who sends rain or drought? Who makes water into wine? Who hardens hearts or softens them? What in the world could I have been thinking???

I thought I would be smart. I thought I would be cunning. I thought I would be sneaky! I would make my requirement IMPOSSIBLE! And He had to follow through with His side of the bargain first. You can't loose that way, right??? I even put a time limit of 3 days too. Smart, right? and my only part in the whole bargain---was I had to read the bible in a year and it had to be easy for me to read. Not even study it. Just read it. I could do that right? right. The bible book I have has set the reading of it out into ten minute increments a day, easy-peasy. Right??? I didn't even have to figure this out for myself. It was already set up for me. No problem. Right??? So why haven't I finished it before now? Because the bible is really not that easy to read. Even with the NIV that is fairly easy to comprehend and already set up for me. Its really just not that easy to do. I digress. Back to my story.

The bargain was made with all requirements set for each side and the wheels were set in motion and to my utter astonishment, on the third day all requirements were met by Him. Why? Why? Why? You can make your own conclusions to this question. Personally I am still quite confused.

To be fair, it did take a fourth day. And to be fair, I did put off reading sometimes and I would eventually catch up.

My best advice if you ever make a bargain with Our Lord Your God: Set the bar so high its impossible. In fact, when you feel you have set it to the impossible, go a step even further. Put time limits on it that are impossible. State an exact time in the day. State an exact date. Make certain you are specific about your requirements and write them down if you need.

Keep in mind that if you do this then my additional advice to you would be that when you make such a bargain and it has been accepted and His part completed, I recommend that you MUST fulfill your part of the bargain as well, or the future unpleasantness in your life will be unbearable until you do fulfill your end of the bargain. Plus you must remember that if his task is to be completed first don't forget that. It's so easy to forget isn't it? Kind of like credit card use is NOT free money.

That's just my opinion on such bargains and also from reading the bible. There are actual guidelines in the bible regarding such bargains. So be careful if you decide to make a bargain with Our Lord Your God.

As I journeyed through my year I have learned a lot. Reading the bible takes very little time and most days it was enjoyable and exciting. It really does read like an adventure story and I recognized many quotes from the bible that people have used in movies and books. Admittedly, Numbers & Chronicles were trying and Jeremiah was confusing. Psalms and Proverbs are beautiful.

In the Old Testament, Poor Moses was driven mad by the whinny, ever complaining Israelites, such a trial for him. And because he became so angry with them at one time, he didn't get to go to the promised land. Due to defying God through his anger. You should read it for yourself for the reason why. I, myself, had not realized the true reason until I read it for myself. Its not what you saw in the movie the "Ten Commandments." Hmmm, who knew???

Aaron lost his two older sons due to their stupidity and refusing to ask Moses about the correct way to do something and were incinerated immediately. Yes, that means burned alive. Yikes!!! Can you imagine??? Poor Aaron was quite depressed about this. He eventually came round and even found the time to try to overthrow Moses with the help of his sister, Marion. Personally, I believe that they were jealous of Moses and his relationship with Our Lord Your God. You should read about the immediate punishment that Our Lord Your God sent to turn them from their evil ways. EEEk. As you may or may not know, Moses was the last man to have a personal relationship with God, and by that I mean the last to actually physically see Him.

The Four Gospels in the New Testament were instructive and even though repetitive, very interesting to read the different perspectives each apostle had for the time and what was important for each to impart.

I have learned so, so much and have been reminded of other writings in the bible that were my favorites from long ago readings and study. It was also helpful to discuss my progress with a co-worker. I recommend you find a mentor and discuss what you have read with another person, if you decide to read the bible in a year yourself. It sets things into a more comprehensive understanding of what you have read.

Of note, I've had my Bible in a Year book for 10 years and have finally used it. I still have the original receipt for it that I use as my book mark.

Through the year I found myself reluctant to mention that I was reading the bible in a year to others. Not because of embarrassment, because I didn't think it was an appropriate conversation piece. Interestingly enough, whenever I have brought it up the people around me always had a better idea for me with regards to my reading.

Its like the situation of people always having a better dead body story to tell. I know you don't get that. But as a suggestion, I dare you to tell a dead body story and I bet you there will be someone with a better dead body story. The dead body story could be anything, a murder, a death of family or friend, a pet. Try it. You'll see and finally get what I mean by this. Anyhoo...

I would always emphasize to these people that the goal was to read it not study it. Because without fail the better idea would be to have a concordance while reading. A concordance is for studying not reading. People unfortunately don't really pay attention and will always have a better great idea for you. I guess this is where patience for others comes in that the bible mentions continuously.

I do recommend that you read the bible in a year. All in all, it was a very good experience and an exciting read. There were times when I did get a little behind, which I do not recommend since its hard to catch up---even if it is set up at 10 minutes per day that can add up when you get behind. Hence, another reason why its taken me 10 years to complete said task, which happily now is completed.

Unusually enough when I only had 5 days to go I actually wanted to quit. What's up with that??? Is that amazing or what?? I had a huge strong desire to NOT continue. I persevered and am happy that I am done.

Will I get anything for it??? No, I already did. Remember? I am now pleased to have fulfilled my side of a promise. And that's all folks.

Enjoy your own adventure of a bible in a year. Thank you BibleGateway.com for the many links and verses used this past year.

Grace be to you and Good day.

Bible in a Year...3,2,1...completed.

Hello, finally finished my bible in a year deal with Our Lord Your God. I ended in Jerimiah, 2 Timothy, Psalms 89 and Proverbs 26.

I learned a lot over the past year. Mostly, that people like to miss-quote the bible instead of really stating what's in it, which is amusing to me. Also, that when you tell people you are reading the bible in a year most people have a better idea for you and how you should be studying it instead of reading it. Which is also amusing to me. They just don't get that the only point was to read it not study it.

I end my year with a link to BibleGateway.com and a verse from Proverbs.

Proverbs 26:1
Like snow in summer or rain in harvest,
honor is not fitting for a fool.

I may do a conclusionary post tomorrow. I have one written up. I haven't decided if I'll post it or not. If not, until the next deal with Our Lord Your God.

Grace be to you. Good day.

Adventure's of the Garden Goddess 2011...Fall...Part 2

Hello,
I was able to sneak in a Fall Gardening class with a local non-profit this October. It was really very informative and they went over what worked for the past season and recommendations for an improved harvest for next year. The picture is of the lovely fruit you can find in Oahu when I went to a local farmer's market while there.

here's the link to the non-profit organization in my area. I recommend you find something like this one in yours.

As for me, I went out and removed all the tiny pear tomatoes and Big Boy tomatoes off the vine and have them on my kitchen table waiting for them to turn. Otherwise they would have frozen. I have two huge reusable grocery bags half full of them. I should make a salsa with them and can it.

Ta, ta, and until next spring.
See ya,
The Garden Goddess

Bible in a Year...3 days to go.

Jeremiah 37:1 to 38:1-28
Jeremiah gets thrown in prison and then in an empty cistern for informing the people in power that they need to change their wicked ways. They are supposed to tear their clothes and put on sackcloth and repent. It doesn't happen. J gets to suffer for his prophesying.

1 Timothy 6:1-21
I have never read Timothy before and am surprised at how much I am enjoying reading it. Timothy encourages people to flee from worldly desires and live an upright life, ie, "fight the good fight." Oh, and stay away from gossiping. All good advice even for these times.

Psalm 89:38.52
a song praising the Lord.

Proverbs 25:26
Like a muddied spring or a polluted well
are the righteous who give way to the wicked.

Think about it...reminds me of people running the various governments and the general public letting them run rampant doing all kinds of wicked things---like passing laws that will bankrupt the government. We complain and yet do nothing about it. We "occupy," and yet most of those "occupying" have no clue as to the movements ideals, they just "occupy." Ah, well...all things work to the good, right? doesn't mean it has to feel good. I just wish it didn't feel so precarious.

Grace be to you. Good day.

Bible in a Year...4 days to go.

The following are the chapters I am in:

Jeremiah 35:1-36 and 36:1-32
Jeremiah is still warning the king to turn from his evil ways and all will be forgiven. The king refuses and provokes Our Lord Your God. As you can guess things don't end well for the king.

1 Timothy 5:1-25
I especially like 1 Timothy today, specifically 5:8 and 5:24,25. 1 Timothy 5 speaks to taking care of widows and your family. I like 5:8 as it reminds me that Mr. X will hopefully be delt a most severe blow for not taking care of his child by purposefully not working and not paying child support as the verse specifically states you should. Here's the verse:

1Tim 5:8 Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

I also like 1 Tim 5:24,25. Here they are:

24 The sins of some are obvious, reaching the place of judgment ahead of them; the sins of others trail behind them.
25 In the same way, good deeds are obvious, and even those that are not obvious cannot remain hidden forever.

---makes you think, eh??

Psalm 89:14-37
This chapter seems to me to speak of Our Lord Your God's promises and praises God for keeping his word. Keep in mind if you do not keep your bargain with God then God will arrange a different promise for you. EEEK!

Proverbs 25
And you can always count on Proverbs. The following is verse 28 and it speaks of having self-control:

28 Like a city whose walls are broken through
is a person who lacks self-control.

It seems to me that people these days are very lacking in self-control and/or thought. It seems that people make their choices and be damned the consequences or who they may harm. Truly a shame.

Grace be to you, Good day.

Bible in a Year...5 days to go.

I really hope that Our Lord Your God finds grace with me to finish up a week late since I was vacationing.

Jeremiah is still confusing.
1 Timothy is what it is.
Psalms always enjoyable.
Proverbs thought provoking.

and of course here is Proverbs 25:24

Better to live on a corner of the roof
than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.

----hmmm, makes you think, eh???

Grace be to you. Good day.

thank you BibleGateway.com for the verse.

ALOHA!!!!!!...I've been on vacation.

Can you guess where??? I am certain the title gave it away. I had such fun. It was truly amazing! I stayed on Oahu for 5 days in Waikiki Beach area, and was able to explore most areas of the rest of the island. I had 3 items on my list: USS Arizona Memorial, golf in Turtle Bay, and a luau. My best friend's (BF)list: see the sun set on the beach each night, and snorkel. The BF hates salt water and believes it to be unnatural. She's funny.

The sunset idea was really a good one and we chose a different area on Waikiki Beach each night. I got some awesome pictures. Oh, Yeah.

I also had a very big surprise by falling in love. Snorkeling is my new love and it was a true surprise for me. It wasn't even on my list to try. My best friend wanted to do this. So we purchased our masks and snorkels and had a grand time at Hanauma Bay. It was actually terrifying at first. You feel as though the ocean is going to suck you in and never let you go. Once I got over this, I couldn't stop.

I even had a sea turtle swim right by me and no one else got to see him as they were all standing up talking. It was AWESOME!!! It was just like in the movie "Finding Nemo." He glided up, looked me in the eye made a cool side turn, then made several side turns through all the people and was gone. Just like that. Way cool. We also tried out our gear again at the west end of Waikiki Beach and saw even more fish since very few people swam in this area as there were lots of rocks, which means lots of fish life. Got to see a baby eel, several puffer fish, a school of angel fish, a bright yellow fish and many more. LOVE, love, love it.

There were positives and not so positives about the trip. I took the frugal way and this was sometimes good, sometimes bad. I learned a lot about "Hawaii time" and Hawaii traffic. Its a good thing that the main miles per hour was 35 and only 25 on Waikiki. Arrived on Tues and the hotel let us check in way early.

The frugal room: was ok---the perk was a hot breakfast as part of the room cost each day, which probably saved $20-30 dollars each day. The nice thing for me is I don't eat when I am on vacation. I get homesick and am not hungry. I lost a pound due to this odd behavior of mine. The cost of room $70 per night and included free parking for a rental car. The hotel was only 2 blocks from the beach, which was a huge plus. I recommend paying the more than $200 per night and stay on the beach front if you can afford it, it looks like a way better experience. For me, I no longer have a special guy in my life to do this with, so frugal it was. The room I had, had the noisiest air conditioner ever, and I am a light sleeper. Luckily, the BF brought extra ear plugs or I would not have slept at all!

Rented a car from Thursday to Sunday for $20 per day and the average for this was $40 per day. Found out that the Arizona Memorial is actually free to get into. I rode the bus on Wed to and from $2.50 each way but if you only stay for 2 hours you can ride for free back. I spent 5 hours there and still did not see it all.

The BF rented a beach umbrella and two lounge chairs that day as she had already seen the memorial. It was a terrific idea and one that I truly recommend that you do. Provided the perfect amount of shade and and quick access to the ocean for a quick dip for a cool off and then back to the interesting people watching and snoozing.

The luau was a splurge as we did take a tour bus to and from and it provided 3 drinks and all the food you wanted to eat. It was a lovely program.

Golfing was fun and on the north shore and even though it was only a 30 minute drive it took 2 1/2 hours because it was 35 mph maximum and lots of traffic.

For snorkeling we purchased the mask and snorkel and went to the park on our own since we had our transportation and saved money by purchasing our own gear and getting to and from the park. A big plus was not having to rent gear that someone else had their mouth on. EEWW--just the thought creeps me out.

Hiking Diamond Head Crater was really quick, only about 2 hours, and the shaved ices were delish after the hike, and we also went to a farmers market and art festival that was being held nearby, then back to the beach and more snorkel practice.

Sunday was the Dole Plantation--the pineapple ice cream is a must to purchase. We also did a walking tour of the garden too, and then North Shore again---saw some awesome waves and surfing, and that night leaving to come home.

Funny things: we got lost for 40 minutes each time we were in Waikiki--trying to leave or trying to get back to the hotel. So our new saying is "we'll take you anywhere, it's just going to take us 40 minutes to figure it out." We could see our hotel but not get to it due to all the one-way streets. At one point the BF shouted, "follow that trolley!" because she new it would stop at our hotel, which it did so that's another new saying for us too. Or versions thereof like "gee, I wish I had a trolley to follow."

I really recommend Hawaii. It is lovely.

Aloha!!!

Bible in a Year...8,7, 6 days to go.

Jeremiah is still informing the Israelites that if they don't repent and start giving thanks to Our Lord Your God they are going to loose everything. Lots of Israelites were carried off to Babylon and the remaining Israelites are going to be punished severely while the ones in Babylon will be looked after. I am not certain what is going on here and its quite confusing, but still my goal is to read it not necessarily understand it.

Psalms and Proverbs are always (most of the time) an enjoyable read.

and I am now in Timothy for the New Testament.

Grace to you, good day.

Occupy...what???

Occupy is currently a new movement in the United States. That is somewhat global. Unfortunately, most people are just rallying to rally and have no idea what "Occupy" is all about. Its all very silly, as Wall-Street, (I agree is greedy), has nothing to do with our current economic situation. It actually has to do with government and its Congress who de-regulated home loans and have made a mess of everything. Congress created the greed. In fact, if the companies on Wall-Street had not followed what the government ordered the company and its employees would have been fined and thrown in jail for not following their stupid, stupid laws. Congress (specifically---Barney Frank) created the problem not Wall-Street.

Get with the picture everybody and do some research. Sheesh. But of course most people are too lazy to do that. Most people like to be lead to the slaughter, so to speak, and don't care to actually find out what really happened. Like the BP Oil spill that VP Biden pushed through without having the safety measures in place. Look it up.

I say OCCUPY Congress!!! Throw Congress OUT!!! Throw the world governments out!

Oh yeah I forgot...end of the world.

It's supposed to be "the end of the world" on October 21. No man knows when this day is no matter how intelligent he may be. Or studied.

In fact, somewhere in my reading the Bible in a Year, one of the verses specifically states that when a person does make a prediction regarding the end of the world it is a guarantee that it will NOT happen on that day.

I believe its in Revelation. Its up to you to look it up and find it.

Its actually in several places but Revelation is one of them--As I recall, its somewhere in the Old Testament too.

Good day.

Bible in a Year...9 days to go.

Hello,
I am currently reading Jeremiah 21-23. The verses below are repeated continually in these chapters. At first they are irritating and I kept thinking to myself that I was lost and re-reading parts. Not true. Eventually after reading them so much, you hit a zone of understanding and start to look for the verses to soak them up even more. They pair beautifully with Thessalonians in the New Testament.

It also, turns out that even Our Lord Your God realizes that we only learn by repetitiveness and even then He realizes it is questionable if we actually learn it.

Jeremiah 21:11-14
11 “Moreover, say to the royal house of Judah, ‘Hear the word of the LORD.
12 This is what the LORD says to you, house of David:

“‘Administer justice every morning;
rescue from the hand of the oppressor
the one who has been robbed,
or my wrath will break out and burn like fire
because of the evil you have done—
burn with no one to quench it.
13 I am against you, Jerusalem,
you who live above this valley
on the rocky plateau, declares the LORD—
you who say, “Who can come against us?
Who can enter our refuge?”
14 I will punish you as your deeds deserve,
declares the LORD.
I will kindle a fire in your forests
that will consume everything around you.’”

During my reading last night I came to the conclusion that even now, we are hard-hearted and don't learn lessons very well. I was thinking of these verses and the times today and the people being harmed and the ones doing the harming. I then recalled 1Thessalonians (paraphrasing in my own words here) "all things are good and work towards God's greatness."

So in Jeremiah, God promises severe punishment towards those who oppress and are evil and in Thessalonians God promises that the suffering that happens is for a greater good. I am specifically thinking of the people who gave the 90 lashes and the women who receive them. I am thinking that I would not want to be the person giving the lashes as God promises a punishment 100 fold against that person (again my interpretation). Can you imagine a punishment 100 times the one you meted out? Yikes. I am in no way saying that the 90 lashes isn't bad enough. I am saying, think before you do evil because your punishment will be worse. Jeremiah states, its a guarantee.

It helps to have some sense of foresight in these cases and most of us don't. Most of us live for the moment and forget to think about how our own actions may affect our future or those around us. I am not implying that you need to freak out and worry about the future all the time too. That's what faith is about, isn't it?? Worrying is not encouraged and does happen to be a sin.

and here is my exciting verse you've all been waiting for from Proverbs:

Proverbs 25:16 & 17
16 If you find honey, eat just enough—
too much of it, and you will vomit.
17 Seldom set foot in your neighbor’s house—
too much of you, and they will hate you.

Verse 17 brings a smile to my face as I recall someone telling me once that when you go to visit family or friends, his rule of thumb was stay no longer than it would take fish to go bad in the refrigerator, which he informed me is about 5 days. I think my own mum would say 3---at least applied to me anyway. ha. I always think of my fish rule when I go visiting and it always makes me smile.

and Verse 16, interestingly enough, it is true that if you eat too much honey it will make you sick. Even though we progress, some things never change.

and my paraphrasing of this verse would be: too much of a good thing and you get sick of it. or tired of it or bored with it. It's not so interesting (sweet) anymore. I think we've all experienced the acute desire for something or someone and once gotten we don't want it or them anymore. Not so great after all, eh?? The old saying "be careful what you ask for, you just might get it" is very apropos.

Thank you BibleGateway.com for the verses.

Grace to you, good day.

Knitting...Seaside Shawlette.

This is my most recent knitting accomplishment, the Seaside Shawlette. I started it on October 1 and finished it on Oct 10. It is a wonderful design by Wendy Gaal who runs Knitters Brewing Company. She is doing a KAL (knit along) for it until 11/11/11. I was able to wear mine around the house last night and can't wait to take it out in public. Just love, love, love it.

Bible in a Year...10 days to go.

Greetings,

I am currently reading Jeremiah 19, each night is about 2 chapters in this book. Its a quick read even if I don't quite get all of it. Last night Jeremiah got thrown in the stockade for being insubordinate to the current priests in charge. It was pretty exciting. Kinda like that local Amish elder who had some beards cut off, eh??? and made the National News, guess that was his 15 minutes of fame. Anyway, the priests in charge didn't like that J was telling them to be honest so they punished him. They let J go the next day.

In 1 Thessalonians, Paul encourages them to give thanks to God in any and all circumstances that you may find yourself. That everything in life is to the glory of God. I'm thinking that this is a little difficult in certain circumstances, like when you're hungry, homeless, or being hunted or beaten by the local government. I mean, for a woman in some countries you get 90 lashes for driving a car. Still, you're supposed to give thanks. Good luck with that. See, even I can be encouraging.

I Thessalonians 5:16-18

16 Rejoice always,
17 pray continually,
18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Psalms reads like beautiful poetry and Proverbs the wisdom of the age.

Proverbs 25:15
Through patience a ruler can be persuaded,
and a gentle tongue can break a bone.

as always Proverbs is thought provking, I can't wait to post the one I have for tomorrow, until then...speak kindly to others and watch your tone too.

Thank you BibleGateway.com for the verses. I have such trouble with the links so I hope this one works. You can go and read for yourself, which is always best as I caught someone the other day taking things out of context and I gently warned them to be careful with doing that. You won't know unless you read it yourself.

Grace to you, and Good day.

Bible in a Year...11 days to go.

Jeremiah 16

Thessalonians

Psalm 77

Proverbs 25

The above books are where I am currently in the bible. I have noticed that Paul always begins his letters with: "Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ." (KJ version) A very nice salutation, don't you think?

and just to make you think about being lazy:
Proverbs 24:30-34
30 I went past the field of a sluggard,
past the vineyard of someone who has no sense;
31 thorns had come up everywhere,
the ground was covered with weeds,
and the stone wall was in ruins.
32 I applied my heart to what I observed
and learned a lesson from what I saw:
33 A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest—
34 and poverty will come on you like a thief
and scarcity like an armed man.

Grace be unto you.
Good day and happy reading.

Bible in a Year...12 days to go.

Jeremiah stays as confusing as ever. Lots of visions for the time period he is living in and for the future as well and it is difficult to discern, which is which. Paul is now sending his encouragement to the Thessalonians. Psalms, praising Our Lord Your God and admonishing Israel for not staying true. And Proverbs, always always, in my opine, thought provoking.

Proverbs 24:27
Put your outdoor work in order
and get your fields ready;
after that, build your house.

Good advice. For you cannot eat if you have no crops sewn. You can always build shelter later. A hungry stomach waits for no man. So many of us do this backwards, don't we? No wonder we suffer needlessly.

Thank you BibleGateway.com for the verse.

Good day.

Spinning news...Galia spindle.

Calypso roving
Galia Spindle

Take a look at this lovely. It came from Israel. It is a Galia Spindle design and I love the look of it. So bright and cheery. It arrived on Friday, Oct 7. In fact, I'm surprised I even received it since the box looked like a Sumo wrestler attacked it. It has so many openings and holes in the box I am confused to understand how it actually made it. I also got some lovely Calypso roving. Its not really my colours although I do like it.

Jeremiah is still confusing. Paul is encouraging the Colossians to help others. Psalms is praising Our Lord Your God. and Proverbs... well, its a favorite (except for 31:10-31 ---- but that's another story).

Proverbs 24

here is a new favorite in 24 for me:

Proverbs 24:26

An honest answer
is like a kiss on the lips.

I must confess my bad angel idea is to some day reply to someone when they ask for an honest answer --- make my reply; and then ask them how was the kiss? ha ...and then when I get the weird look, quote the verse. I suspect this scene plays out better in my head than it will in real life. :)

As you may or may not know, my belief is that most people I have ran into when stating they prefer honesty, don't really mean it. Honesty and truth cut like a knife, hence, its avoidance. (and why people tend to avoid me--I'm ok with it).

I really like Proverbs 24 and that is why I provided a link. You should take a quick second and read all of it. Its really very inspirational.

Thank you BibleGateway.com for the link and verse.

Good day.

Bible in a Year...17 days to go.

My sadness overwhelms me today, I can almost cut it with a knife. I could feel the sorrow coming for awhile and now it has arrived. Can you do that too??? Can you feel the energy too??

I surround myself with good things and good people and encourage myself to stay positive by all these wonderful things and the beauty that is around me. I am still sad. I will, without a doubt see happiness or joy on another day. For now, I take heart that my spirit needs a slow renewal and joy will come another time.

...and I miss G.

My search for wisdom and peace continues.
I impart another message from Proverbs.

Proverbs 24:5,6

Saying 22

5 The wise prevail through great power,
and those who have knowledge muster their strength.
6 Surely you need guidance to wage war,
and victory is won through many advisers.

Good day and have a good weekend.

Bible in a Year...19 more days to go...

...and today the Colossians receive Paul's wonderful praise as they walk the walk and doing the right thing at all times. Jeremiah is confusing but trudging through. Psalms is praising Our Lord Your God. And Proverbs is going through the sayings.

Saying 21
Proverbs 24:3,4

3 By wisdom a house is built,
and through understanding it is established;
4 through knowledge its rooms are filled
with rare and beautiful treasures.

Good day.

Bible in a Year...20 more days to go...

I am almost complete with reading the bible in a year. Yeah me.

I will finish the year with Jeremiah. He's a bit of a long-winded writer and a little difficult to understand. In the New Testament, the Galatians were scolded by Paul for their fickleness and the Philippians are currently being praised by Paul. The ever praising & lamenting of God in Psalms and the "take a moment to think about it" Proverbs.

I have been a bit perturbed with Our Lord Your God here lately and am requesting a "free pass" from him to get out of the funk I'm in. I think Galatians put me in the funk. It made me feel slightly guilty about my own pursuits. Don't read it if you want to keep doing what your doing. Now the Philippians make you feel good about a good cause and fight the good fight. A very positive book to read indeed and take some inspiration along with you.

and Proverbs 24:1,2. remember the sayings?? well here is #20:
Saying 20

1 Do not envy the wicked,
do not desire their company;
2 for their hearts plot violence,
and their lips talk about making trouble.

Good day and happy reading in a year.

Golf- Springs Ranch

here are beautiful pictures of a local golf course in my area called Springs Ranch. This one is located out east from me so I don't get to it very often and the only reason I went this time was because I got a terrific deal.

Look at the gorgeous flower garden along one of the fareways!!! and that's me with my terrible back swing with Cheyenne Mountain in the background.

We sat in the clubhouse having a drink and planning my Halloween costume.
All in all, an enjoyable last weekend in September.
