WARNING this is a rant... you can google any and all statements that I have made.
I find this article: Who owns USA very interesting.
I believe our economy is a serious issue. We need less spending and more interest taken in Congress' fiduciary duty towards its people. It has been proven all throughout history that more money given to government to spend on worthwhile projects does not give us worthwhile projects it ends in overspending, glad handing, and the major mishandling of money. Take the BP Oil disaster, which was actually created by your current Vice President Joe Biden for pushing certification of the oil well through the oil committees faster than it should have been, which skipped several main certifications of the rig. One of those being a safety certification. Interesting isn't it?? See this post of mine BP Oil disaster or google it--I did. and you will find your articles.
I want a budget freeze. There is plenty of money in government. The problem is the mishandling of it. Take Pelosi and her purchasing 3 brand new, BRAND NEW 747's for Congress to use (mostly her). A totally unnecessary expense. They can take public transportation just like everyone else and just like they had been doing before her. Or how about that "Bridge to Nowhere" in Alaska? at least that one did finally get nixed.
Take the lovely meetings that were held overseas to discuss "global warming," which in truth is a natural progression and a huge waste of government money to travel to discuss an issue that they are in truth, going to do nothing about. You and I had to foot this bill too. Congress did get a lot of holiday gift buying done and a lovely holiday spent over seas courtesy of you and me. They do not need to discuss this issue as its not an issue.
All you have to do is study the earth a little bit and everyone with a tiny bit of brain would come to the conclusion that "global warming," ice ages, etc are not new. In fact, mans pollution has been keeping the earth from heating up sooner than it normally would have done on its own. There is no global warming. And that's the convenient truth about that.
9-11 actually proved this when all planes were grounded for 3 days and a scientific study was done regarding the pollution and weather. With the planes grounded Earth heated up. With planes in the air, Earth cooled.
Earth's weather is supposed to change. It does this---naturally---automatically and there is not a whole lot we can do to stop it. Nor should Congress waste money we can ill afford discussing this. Nor are there many people in Congress who actually have a science degree who can actually and truthfully discuss it. No, we get to pay for Congress to speak to those people too. I am tired of the snow ball effect regarding the mishandling of money, especially over issues that are not issues. STOP IT! STOP IT NOW!!
and don't even get me started on the subject of ethanol and how it has caused more pollution, higher prices in food and textiles, let alone starvation, and we get to subsidize prices for that too. What a waste, yet again! There are other more positive ways for people to "feel good" about lessening their pollution impact.
Don't get me wrong, I do believe lessening pollution is a good idea and should be done. But let's actually do minimize pollution. Let's actually spend less. Not substitute for different ways of polluting or misspending just so you can "feel good." I am tired of "feeling good."
I want results that are real. Don't you??? or do you just want to "feel good?"

At least its not Proverbs... Its Mark this time.
I looked at my post from yesterday about Proverbs and am reminded of a line in a favorite movie of mine, "Where the Heart Is." The gist of the line goes like this: to read the bible a little section at a time and then you can deal with your confusion as it comes.
This time I will provide only a few verses that struck me.
Mark 7:17 & 19
17 After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. 18 “Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? 19 For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)
The reason for it being so striking as you must remember the times. This is a time when following the Law is very important. Just before this line Jesus is rebuking the Pharisees. And when Jesus makes the statement that you can essentially eat anything, that it is what you do that defiles you. This is so against anything that has been taught before this time that puts the Pharisees in shock, disbelief and in my opinion, most of all hatred. For if you do not follow the law how will they, the Pharisees, be given the sin offerings from people not following the law. It is my understanding that this is how the Pharisees receive their wealth.

Surpise...Proverbs again. This time #10.
Currently I am in Leviticus, Mark, always the lovely Psalms written by King David, and Proverbs, which is believed to have several different authors.
The wisdom of Proverbs should never be taken for granted nor overrated. I do look forward to reading it each night so that I may remind myself to speak and act wisely. I may not always get there. I do reach for it.

Musique Melodies...
Musique Melodies is DD's new business.
This picture shows the fun that DD and I had on Sunday Feb 13 this past weekend. A bridal faire.
Fade out to evening before:
DD calls me at 7:30pm on Saturday to inform me that she needs an 'A' string for her cello--there are no stores open now, nor will there be in the morning. I have been running around doing things for the past 5 days and asking her to make certain she has things ready.
Like: outfit-check. extra cello strings (that mom purchased and puts with cello bag and DD takes out of cello bag and puts somewhere else and now $200.00 worth of cello strings have been sucked into a vortex)(and no that is NOT a typo on the cost. Just an 'A' string cost is $36.00).-check (actually not checked). music - check(oops I forgot at home too). computer-check (ooops, oopss I forgot at home). Although I will say she did record some songs on the computer in case the 'A' string broke. But I ask you, when you forget the computer at home, how is that going to help???
Turns out DD has it all complete "in her head" and did not move her body to get these things done. So on Sunday morning we are running around with our heads cut off like chickens. I explained to DD the reason you get all those things ready the week before is because there is always, always last minute things to deal with and its always, always very helpful to keep these things at a minimum instead of having to deal with a MOUNTAIN of "last minute things!!" As its way too mentally and physically exhausting to deal with all of it at one time.
Fade back to Sunday morning (thank goodness I went over 2 hours early):
Her outfit was also not ready and Grammy was a trooper and helped out there (she also helped with the forgotten music). I found the pants and sat in the car knitting so as to keep the snide, hurtful comments to myself.
Needless to say I have been exhausted because of all the last minute garbage that should and could have been taken care of beforehand. I was not happy. We did trudge through it and it was quite an adventure for both of us. All ended well.
The A string is now key on the list and it did thankfully last throughout the day. DD was a trouper and played for most of the 5 hours we spent at the faire. Hopefully, hopefully (fingers crossed) DD has learned a lesson - to get stuff ready to go way beforehand and not do this just in her head.

Proverbs 9...no surprise.
I am so fascinated with Proverbs. Again the author speaks to wisdom and understanding and avoiding foolishness. We only learn from repetitiveness. Right? I implore you to seek wisdom. I must admit that for me it seems to be more difficult to obtain. It always feels just out of my reach. Especially right before I have said or done something really, really stupid.

KBC Mystery Sock III...Family Jewels.
This is clue 4 completed. I may actually get one sock done by the due date of Feb 25. This is a cute Valentines sock. Wendy has once again out done herself with another design. All of her designs just get better every time. She is absolutely amazing. Every time I tell myself that I have plenty of wips to finish I always get sucked into the KBC vortex and succumb to her designs. Exodus...
Is not only about the exodus from Egypt; it is also about setting up rules and regulations for the Israelites. Specifically I noticed how blue, purple and scarlet keep coming up in the instructions that the curtains of the Most Holy Place and garments of the priests are to be made.
Here is one person's take (with help from a co-worker) on the colours and the symbolism:
Blue = heaven or the sky (it can also mean the sea and its reflection of heaven)
Purple = royalty
Scarlet = priesthood (or the blood sacrifice (that the priests are to give)I always wondered why the higher-ups in the Catholic Diocese wore red and this may be why.

Charity Knitting...Superbowl Super Scarves 2012.
Superbowl Super Scarves 2012 is my current choice for some of my charity energy to go. Some of the scarves made are really "Super" (sorry, couldn't resist). :)
I think I can handle at least getting one to them on or before November 11, 2011. I don't do well under pressure and this time-line gives me plenty of time. I have been enjoying all of Goodnight Grams scarves that she has personally designed and knitted. I bow to her craftsmanship and energy.

Brambles...finished.
Brambles is now finished and blocked. If you do not block this hat it turns out to be a beanie. It must be blocked. I chose the alternate cable cast on and I believe its too stretchy as the hat is still big for me. I even lowered the cast on stitches to 88 when the smallest is 96. The recommended blocking method is to run a running stitch around the top of the rib and pull it tight while blocking around a plate. I did and this worked well. Picture shows this method of blocking.

Knitting... Brambles.
On to something more pleasant. I saw Brambles Beret on Nuclear Knits blog and thought how pretty it was. Here's mine after 4 hours of knitting through the Superbowl. This is an overdye of Drink Aid - black cherry and a little strawberrry. The yarn was a sandstone colour. Its much nicer and softer after the overdye. More pleasant to work with. I doubled the strand. It should be done today.
And that's an alternate cable cast on you see. Its very different and fun to do. Wooly Wormhead has a great tutorial on it.
The Bible...depresses me.
I find that reading the bible depresses me. I now know why I have never read it in its entirety: its just too much. By that I mean too much stupidity, too much greed, too much evil, too much hatred, too much lying by omission, too much manipulation, too much whining, too much complaining, too much of everything.
The reason it depresses me is that I was naive and under the impression that human kind has improved. That we (humanity) have learned from our mistakes and the past. I am very, very, very WRONG. We have learned NOTHING. We keep repeating the same old mistakes, have the same old hatreds, have the same old jealousies. When do we learn and make improvements??
Key point here: NEVER. 2nd Key point here: and that's the point. We are not perfect and never will be. We learn to keep going, good and bad, and that's it.
No wonder I read about so many people just giving up. For some reason this always surprises me. It shouldn't. It always does.
Final key point here: no matter the continuous, constant mistakes--you are not to give up. You are to continue and make life better no matter the struggle no matter the past, present or future.
I am thankful to those who continue in a pleasant manner. Thank you it really does help.

Valentine project...

Breckenridge Ice Sculptures...
This is what is happening in Breckenridge, Colorado. The teams created their sculptures within 24 hours and then the public gets to view them for the next two weeks. I like the flow of the second picture and the face has incredible detail.
Proverbs 4.
Proverbs 4 - has been on my mind a lot lately and it was part of my reading a few days ago. It talks so much about how wisdom and understanding are very important and I agree. I find that the writer is desperate to impart his message and of all the messages in this book these seem to be the most important ones. I especially like the end passages, as once you have wisdom and understanding you should live life steadfast and with honesty.

Yarn Dyeing books...
these books have been very helpful about the different products available and how to use them. I like all the step by step instructions, colour photos of same, and showing the finished product as an item knitted up. I do recommend them for your library if you are into yarn dyeing and a beginner as I am.

Think Twice is a great read. I do enjoy the way Scottoline writes. I just began this last night and only have about 57 pages to left to read. It really went quickly and the characters are prior ones that she has written about.

It Striped!! Very cool. Now to dye my real skeins and save this one for a sock.
I believe I will make the purple area much bigger and the orange and burnt orange smaller. This has been a great learning process.
