I'm stalled...
and it's making me cranky.
George is patiently waiting to be threaded with diaper twill and then sleyed and then we can put the move on for a whole lotta twill weaving being done.
This is George's back beam. I really gotta get moving on this. sigh.
Interesting thing about diaper twill is that it was the threading that was used mostly to make...you guessed it, cloth diapers for babies. At least that's my understanding where it came from. At least in the reading I've done. But then again you can't trust everything you read now can you. take it with a grain of salt.

and look what George did...
...This is George.
See the pretty tartan that we made. It's more a plaid since its just a "tartan" made up in my head and not official.
darker than I thought it would be but I am happy.

Wedge Weave...
Wedge Weaving is a lost art and is now experiencing a renaissance of sorts.
I found it through an indigenous weaving group online.
and then did some additional research and found this .pdf by Connie Lippert. It is and has been for me one the most informative articles written about wedge weave. Joanne Materra also has a small written section in her book about it (love this book - but price gougers currently have an upper hand regarding the resale of this book). Caroline Spurgeon has a written section in her book too--I like her book too but for other reasons.
Gladys Reichard also has written about wavy lines. Her book is an interesting account written in 1933 about her time spent the 3 previous years with the Red Point Family. Its not really an instructional book more historical description so as not to loose the Navajo Way of weaving.
Back to Wedge Weave...
one interesting aspect regarding wedge weave is the reason it has mostly fell from popularity or more correctly it was never popular in the first place to purchase, is the edges naturally scallop. The preference is for straight edges and wedge weave does not for most weavers provide a straight edge. Scallops are what you get.
Here's my current wedge weave project:
I was moving right along very happy, and now it looks as though a drunken sailor got ahold of it. sigh.
My weaving always seems to take on a life of its own. I will keep it and move forward.
Lesson learned and will keep as a reminder to me of what not to do.
