I like this verse. Trust what you hear and see and act accordingly. Believe people when they tell you who they are---they never lie about this. I ask---Are you willing to see the truth?

Proverbs 20:11
11 Even small children are known by their actions,
so is their conduct really pure and upright?
I liked this verse as it brings to my mind the question of "do small children know between right and wrong?" I believe they do. I believe everyone does we just have a sinful man that has some great reasoning perspectives.

love this article...
about Shanghai men.
And for those of us in the USA all you need to do is go south, I mean deep south. Louisiana. As my current BF has all of these qualities 1,2,3,4,5 (and I love and enjoy everyone of them) and he is still very masculine. In fact, more so in my opine as it takes a man to be so attentive and thoughtful.
He does not give me his money, he does share very willingly.

so at harvest time they look but find nothing.
5 The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters,
but one who has insight draws them out.
6 Many claim to have unfailing love,
but a faithful person who can find?
I like all three verses today. I really like when Solomon speaks to me about sluggards. The description is so precise and always provides a picture in my mind.
Verse 5 has such meaning to it. It says many things to me. We all have such depth and meaning and its a lovely thing to share our depth with one another. Who are you? and do you share? It's a wonderful gift when you do.
Verse 6 is beautiful, isn't it??? Unfailing love. Say no more.

I like today's verses. They make me think about my actions and reactions and how I need to listen, seek knowledge, to not mock, and to not be foolish. All very good and sound advice.
This is the end of Chapter 19, and once again I seem to have an affinity to the first verse of the chapter. Here is verse one as a reminder to keep away from being a fool:

opening actHi, I've been having way, way too much fun lately. Hopefully I won't be struck down with lightening since I haven't kept up with posting.
I was busy before and now the BF (boy friend) is back in my life it's even busier. We went and saw Florence + the Machine last night and she is so awesome. A terrific performer. I don't remember the name of the opening act, they were good too. If you get the chance to see Florence + the Machine you really need to do it.

is a child who brings shame and disgrace.
This verse is self-explanatory. I believe there are many ways to "rob" or "drive out" people. Hopefully we are all prudent in our decisions that need to be made and are respectful.

better to be poor than a liar.
23 The fear of the Lord leads to life;
then one rests content, untouched by trouble.
I see verse 22 all the time. I remember reading about a homeless woman who saved up to visit her online "boyfriend" in Scotland and she surprised him by showing up at his home and SURPRISE he was living with another woman. He told her "it's not what you think." OH REALLY????? She really should have chosen a life alone and get herself straightened out before doing what she did. It's just a very sad classic example that we all desire to have unfailing love. I suppose she became poorer and he became the liar. BTW - He disappeared the next day when she went back.
Verse 23 speaks for itself. Although it brings up a silly question in my head of wondering how many verses there are in the bible that state "fear"-ing the Lord" in some semblance. It might be interesting to count them all. Take a year to read each verse and post which ones have "fear the Lord." Just a thought. and does fear really mean "fear" or does it mean respect, believe or another word lost in translation?

You can also log into your Sprint account, go into permissions and block the numbers that way too.

I love verse 18 as it does not mean to give your child everything they desire. It means to actually discipline.

4: training that corrects, molds, or perfects the mental faculties or moral character
5a : control gained by enforcing obedience or order b : orderly or prescribed conduct or pattern of behavior c : self-control
6: a rule or system of rules governing conduct or activity
Nothing wrong with a punishment to mold for a more orderly conduct.
I have to be careful with verse 19 as I have quite the temper and no red hair to show for it (not that people with red hair really have bad tempers). Other than the Irish/Scottish/Welsh lineage. I have paid the price many times and keep and even keel on my temper these days. I actually think my temper comes from a father who would tease me incessantly until I did get angry. Pretty mean of him and mum would stand by hoping it would be over soon. Sometimes she would say something. Even the bible warns against doing this to your children. Can't remember the verse so probably shouldn't write that. I always hate it when people say that and can't produce the verse and now I'm one of them. Irony at its worst.

and a quarrelsome wife is like
the constant dripping of a leaky roof.
14 Houses and wealth are inherited from parents,
but a prudent wife is from the Lord.
I like both verses today. A foolish child certainly brings heartache and concern for that child. And a quarrelsome wife no one can stand her voice, even her. Very mentally draining for all. As for verse 14, I believe the wealth it speaks of here is not necessarily monetary. I believe we teach and learn very important lessons from our parents. Wisdom is a great gift. Too bad Mr. X doesn't provide more wisdom for DD. sigh. A prudent wife is always something to strive towards.

An Interesting Story...
at least to me it is.
Mom purchased a memorial rock for G to be placed near the family cemetery. Simple, right??? well...there are rules.
Rule #1 - Memorial Rocks can only be placed by a tree in the cemetery. Luckily, there was one near to the family plots. You have to walk past the rock to get to the family plot. This is nice and makes the plots easier to find.
Rule #2 - you have to purchase a plot to put the rock on---yep, not kidding. ok, so $795.00 later.
Rule #3 - There is only one acceptable type of rock.
Rule #4 - There is only one acceptable memorial rock maker. OOOPs, no wait--he went out of business.
Rule #5 - The cemetery has to find another acceptable rock maker.
Rule #6 - This is the last rock allowed to be purchased because its been such a pain for the cemetery to find a business that will make the memorial rock.

$4,995.00 later...

how much more do their friends avoid them!
Though the poor pursue them with pleading,
they are nowhere to be found.[a]
Again Solomon is adamant about reminding everyone about poverty. I think its a silent plea to help those who cannot help themselves. Granted, I do not believe in helping people who take advantage and take advantage and take advantage ---as this is not what Solomon is presenting. There are those who do need help and then they can help themselves and then help others in turn.

Proverbs 19:4-5
4 Wealth attracts many friends,
but even the closest friend of the poor person deserts them.
5 A false witness will not go unpunished,
and whoever pours out lies will not go free.
I think its interesting in verse 4 that Solomon felt it important to note the differences between wealth and poverty. I see it all the time that the wealthy do have many friends and the poor do not.
Remember to be kind and thoughtful towards all people.

Tour de Fleece...Day 7,8,9,10,11,12
still going strong, just not posting about it too much.
July 6 - day 7 - spun a little
July 7 - day 8 - spun a little
July 8 - day 9 - spun a little
July 9 - day 10 ---did no spinning this day I went ballroom dancing instead. Yeah me.
July 10- day 11 - spun a little - finished up the Embers BFL & Silk blend and ready to ply for day 12 (I suspect it may be a little over spun---but what the heck do I know--I really have no clue). 2 oz on each bobbin. I love those bobbins--I think they are just the cutest looking ones ever!!!
and here's a picture of the spinning I've done. Took with a flash. I am ready to ply and get this off my bobbins so I can start the sweater spinning that I planned to do in the first place. Yikes!!! I guess I am way, way behind in that. sigh

Adventures of the Garden Goddess...Yr2-2012.
Its been awhile since I posted about gardening. We got 6 inches of hail about 3 weeks ago and it set all of us back a bit. Plus you could tell that the folks in my area lost heart for awhile. We are back from the set back but a little behind schedule.
This is my garden. Its a bit of a jungle as I had lots of things replant themselves from last year and I let them grow where they chose. I'm a bit eccentric (free spirit) that way as I know a "real" gardener would never do this. I know, this is Colorado and they are not supposed to do that!!! (replant themselves) Plus my garden is on the north side with no protection from the cold. We had no snow to speak of in my town so it didn't kill the seeds off.
Cilantro, dill, beans, arugula, and radishes--kindly replanted themselves. I planted more radishes, lettuce and carrots. The carrots refused to grow. I need to plant some more.
The big green thing that has yellow flowers is a Mullion plant. You can dry the leaves and make a tea. The flowers you put in olive oil and it will make a topical ointment like Neosporine. FYI-The seeds are highly poisonous. It is also known as the toilet paper plant because the leaves are wide and soft and it was used as such (one time use only--don't eat after used this way).
I did harvest about 4 grocery bags of lettuce last week (yes, I am the lettuce growing queen). Yum, yum.
Even G1 seemed a little less enthusiastic this year. Although he had cover for his plants. Its pretty cool as the clear plastic is removable.
G2-July 11,2012G2 had more enthusiasm, I think, for her garden this year. Although her tomatoes show wear and tear from the hail storm.
G3 is definitely not as far along as last year.

1 Better the poor whose walk is blameless
than a fool whose lips are perverse.
2 Desire without knowledge is not good—
how much more will hasty feet miss the way!
3 A person’s own folly leads to their ruin,
yet their heart rages against the Lord.
All good verses today that make a person think. I think of myself in the last verse. There are times that I feel such rage against Our Lord Your God. I'll admit these are not my best moments. I think of DD and others dear to me in the second verse as I believe they have foolishly missed the way, and verse one reminds me to be happy with what I have, not want.
I believe Confucius took some of these as his own, and if you know anything about history this is quite possible. King Solomon wrote this before Confucius. Trading between the two nations happened with the regions as well as sending many slaves and free merchants to the area. They would have brought what Solomon wrote with them. Anything written was considered priceless and shared with others. Granted the Isralites were to keep separate, as always happens in history, there were some who would cross that boundary (even Solomon did). Something to think about, anyway.

I do like both verses as they make a person think about circumstances. I have been poor and the rich do answer harshly. As for unreliable friends or a friend who sticks closer than a brother---can both be taken to mean you personally (think about it).
I did read John Gill's commentary for both verses as I was curious. It was interesting.
...and as this is the end of Chapter 18, here is verse one again:

I went to an open mic night of live music held at a local venue. Wow!!! some great musicians in my area. Such fun.

Life is a Verb...Chapter 5.
My book study was finally able to meet after certain mishaps and unpleasantness in life.
Chapter 5 is about Integrity and to not be afraid of change and of people who seem different. Its about "burning your toast" (read the book), "selling your red books" (read the book), and speaking up in a kind manner when you see injustice. Lots of great activities and assignments to do if you feel so inclined.

disputes are like the barred gates of a citadel.
This is so true. I can name many times (too many) when I found no compassion in my heart and stood unyielding. Much better to converse kindly than offensively and create someone standing against you instead of with you.

until someone comes forward and cross-examines.

and keeps strong opponents apart.
I like both of these verses today. The wisdom in them speaks for itself.
I have seen many doors opened for those who give gifts. It doesn't have to be a gift of significance either. I recently gave a big bag of lettuce (I am the queen of lettuce growing) to a lovely person as they open their home for a book study that I belong. A very simple gift and it opens the heart of many. Try it, it truly does work. Although, keep your compassion at hand as it may not work the way you want.
Verse 17 has special significance to me as I was a paralegal in another life (I so loved the job just not the negativity and cutthroat attitude). This verse makes me chuckle as I have seen it in action many times. "TRUTH WILL OUT" as the British say.

I like verse 14. I recently had a co-worker crush my spirit and I am trying to recoup. Not certain how to recover. Must tread carefully so that their spirit is not crushed as well.

they go down to the inmost parts.
I suppose most of us have been taken in by the "words of a gossip." I remember a time long ago when a co-worker of mine would start her sentence with, "now, I'm not one to gossip, but..." and we could always count on hearing something really good about someone. Plus it was the beginning of a song on the old TV show HeeHaw.
and of course, as a reminder being a gossip is not a positive energy. Be careful with what you say to others.
