Proverbs 21:13

13 Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor
will also cry out and not be answered.

This verse brings a multitude of mixed emotions as I like to help those who need help. It is tricky to help people sitting on a corner asking for money. In my opinion, the truly poor do not sit on the corner panhandling or not working at all. I believe in helping those who help themselves as Ruth did with her mother-in-law. Ruth did not sit and beg she went out and worked for the meager food supply they ate.
