Proverbs 16:6-7

6 Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for;
through the fear of the Lord evil is avoided.

7 When the Lord takes pleasure in anyone’s way,
he causes their enemies to make peace with them.

John Gills commentary on the two above verses are interesting. He explains that doing good is not enough--its a two-part process. A person must do good, abstain from ungodly behavior and also believe in Him (Christ). Interesting.

Once I thought about the commentary that's exactly it just in different words that mean the same thing.
